Stan laurel signed letter framed and matted with COA
Stan Laurel signed letter framed and matted with a COA from Frasers in The strand London. The letter is dated June 2nd 1959 and is on Oceana Headed paper. It is addressed to Rita. A friends Granddaughter in response to her letters regarding a career in show business. The letter is concluded “Uncle” and signed Stan xxxx. The letter is nicely presented in a gold frame with a 10 x 8 black and white photograph of Stan Laurel. I bought this some years ago from Frasers in the Strand London, a well known company who sell stamps and memorabilia. The COA comes with the piece. As you can see from the picture the letter has a some signs of aging across the piece which to me just adds to the character. On the top left hand corner there was originally a tear about 2.5 inches long which has been placed backed together and reinforce with a paper behind by Frasers who had the piece framed. The signature is still very strong. Again you can see this from the picture, although the black ink has taken on more of a dark brown appearance. Overall for its age this is a lovely piece of comedy history with an interesting content ready to display on the wall.
